Felt Meets Cloth makes felted art objects, as well as homewares and wearables. Felt Meets Cloth is run by the London based artist Abigail Thomas, who works with wool, cloth, thread and other fibres to create unique (and often usable) works of art.
Felt Meets Cloth also runs feltmaking workshops for both adults & children, and is passionate about passing on the knowledge of this ancient craft. She can teach total beginners as well as those with some experience in felting.
Abigail's work as a fibre artist centres on exploring the processes and materials involved in
the ancient art of feltmaking. Her textile practice has run underneath her other threads of
making and thinking for many years, but this ancient process of textile production from wool
fibres and the material itself has gripped her imagination since her first felt workshop as a
teenager; potential and possibility bubbling in the background while she built herself as a
visual artist. Recently this path of fibre has come to the surface again through studio
experimentation, teaching workshops and 3D creations.
Abigail is also currently Exhibitions Officer for the International Feltmakers Association.
